About Compyle

Agencies sell hours. AI has changed how many hours a lot of the work takes: setting up projects, reviewing code, writing tests, sorting tickets, answering routine support questions.

Most agency owners didn't set out to build software platforms for their own teams, and they shouldn't have to. We build the platform once and share it across the agencies we own. Each agency keeps its name, its clients and its people, and spends less of its week on repeat work.

Then there is the question of who buys a good agency when its owner wants to stop. Too often nobody does. We started Compyle to be that buyer.

James Levine founded Compyle. He is a software engineer. He was a lead engineer at AWS, Ticketmaster and Reach plc, building production systems for large companies in media, healthcare, finance and aviation.

He has also founded three startups, one of them sold early to Autoglass, and led sales teams in health technology, consultancy and software.

That is his own experience from earlier roles. It is not a record for Compyle, which has not yet bought or run an agency.

Compyle is a trading name of Built By Unicorns Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 17384239. The same company runs a small software agency under the name Built By Unicorns.

Compyle comes from "compile": source code goes in and a working build comes out. It's spelt with a y.
